ITWM: Speaking for myself the staging went smoothly for the most part. The atmosphere backstage was happy...a typical Canadian party eh?
It wasn't until The Hip went on when the real trouble started...
ITWM: I had a great Yamaha Recording Series kit and an custom Ayotte drum kit to offer Johnny. He went for the Ayotte set. I fitted him into it exactly the way he asked. He left the stage and the band assembled. Johnny took the set. Gord Downie took the stage. The guitar player started his riff. I can't remember for sure but it was "Little Bones or "Twist My Arm" . The audience went nuts. Then something went terribly wrong. Johnny was looking back at me with his face all distorted like he was paralyzed..
